Welcome to the Teacher Instructional Resources section of the Planet Debate website. This section is available to Gold and Platinum subscribers. Individuals who are not Gold or Platinum subscribers can purchase access to this section of the site for only $99.
The section of the site includes audio lectures, quizzes, assignments, lesson plans, a user directory, restricted forums, and sample arguments. It is designed to facilitate classroom instruction in the teaching of debate.
The materials in this section of the site are produced, edited, and organized by Dr. Timothy O'Donnell. Dr. Timothy M. O'Donnell is the Director of Debate at Mary Washington College (MWC) in Fredericksburg, VA. As a faculty member in the English, Linguistics, and Speech department, he teaches courses in rhetoric, public address, and argumentation. During his tenure, MWC Debate has won three consecutive American Debate Association National Championships at the novice and junior varsity level and has been ranked consistently among the top 20 programs in the nation by the National Debate Tournament (NDT). Before he arrived at MWC, he was an assistant coach at both the University of Pittsburgh and Wake Forest University where he worked with teams that consistently reached the late elimination rounds of virtually every major college tournament including the NDT. Prior to that, he served as the Director of Debate at Brookfield Central High School (WI), where his student's accomplishments included appearances in the finals of the Montgomery Bell Academy Tournament and the Tournament of Champions (TOC), as well as the top speaker at the TOC.
These resources will be updated throughout the year, with most of the material made available by September 1st. This early, initial release includes some materials in each category.
This is our first year producing these materials and we eagerly anticipate your feedback. Please direct any comments or questions to info@planetdebate.com
